Born in Toledo, Ohio, she and her family relocated to Huntsville, Alabama where Mrs. Gaiter attended Anna Knight Elementary School, Oakwood Academy, and Oakwood University. Mrs. Gaiter worked as a certified paralegal and social worker for state and federal government agencies before joining the ministry of education in 1999.
As an educator, she has worked in the capacity of lead teacher, instructional coach, curriculum writer, and she has served on education boards and curriculum committees for the Southern Union. Mrs. Gaiter served as the Associate Superintendent of Schools for the South Atlantic Conference from 2012 until in 2016 when she humbly accepted the nomination of the South Atlantic Conference Constituency to serve as the Vice President for Education for this quinquennium.
Mrs. Gaiter holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University and a Masters of Education degree in Brain-based Teaching and Learning, as well as, an Education Specialist degree (ED.S) in Teacher Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
Mrs. Gaiter and her husband, Buford count it a joy and blessing to have been married for 35 years. Together, they have two adult children, Joseph Gaiter and Andrea Gaiter Owens; both products of Adventist Christian education, and two amazing and active grandsons, Mason and Logan Owens.
